Frank Lampard has urged Callum Hudson-Odoi to stay at Chelsea FC beyond the summer.
The Blues teenager is facing an uncertain future at the west London side despite being given a chance to shine in the Chelsea FC team under Maurizio Sarri this term.
The Italian coach has used Hudson-Odoi has an option from the bench across all competitions in the current campaign to give the 18-year-old a taste of first-team football.
Hudson-Odoi has made five substitute appearances in the Premier League, while the England Under-19 international has netted four times in nine games in the Europa League and FA Cup.
The Chelsea FC number 20’s cameo performances attracted interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the January transfer window.
Hudson-Odoi hasn’t signed a contract extension with the west London side and his current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2019-20 season.
Now, former Chelsea FC midfielder Lampard has admitted that he is hoping Hudson-Odoi eventually decides to remain at Stamford Bridge.
“Firstly, I’d love him to stay at Chelsea,” Lampard told talkSPORT.
“He needs to be doing everything to get in that team. Is he working hard and is he developing every day in training and trying to improve? I don’t know him that well but I’m sure that’s the standard at Chelsea he’s going by himself.
“Every minute he gets on the pitch he needs to be doing everything he can.
“I understand Chelsea fans want to see more of him and he has to do everything he can to give himself the chance of minutes.
“I think at the end of the season he will look back and think what can I do with my career. It’s a mad one because a young English player at Chelsea at that age then you really want him to sign that long-term contract.
“I hope it can be agreed that he can stay at Chelsea.”
Hudson-Odoi scored his first Chelsea FC goal in a 4-0 win over Greek side PAOK back in November.
