Maurizio Sarri on the brink: Chelsea boss overtakes Marco Silva in Premier League sack race

It has been an up and down start to life as Chelsea manager for Maurizio Sarri.

After an 18-game unbeaten run in all competition to start the season, the Blues have faltered somewhat since.

And three consecutive away defeats without scoring a goal have raised questions over the Italian’s future at Stamford Bridge.

A 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates was followed by a 4-0 humbling at the hands of Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadum.

And on Sunday the Blues were given a shellacking at the hands of champions Manchester City at the Etihad.

It left many questioning whether or not Sarri would last the season at Chelsea, given Roman Abramovich’s demanding nature for his team/.

And the bookmakers do not think Sarri has much time left.

The Italian is now odds-on to be the next manager sacked in the Premier League this season, with Sky Bet offering 4/5 that he is the next man to go.

Not only that, but the betting company have opened a couple of other markets on Sarri too.

For Sarri not to be in the dugout for the FA Cup clash with Manchester United in just five days’ time, Sky Bet are offering odds of 9/4, while him not being in charge of the Carabao Cup final against City on February 24 is 15/8.

The only other manager at threat, according to Sky Bet, is Everton’s Marco Silva, who is 3/1 to leave next. At 5/1 it is no manager to leave.
