Chelsea fans were raving about Christian Pulisic last week after he netted a tremendous goal for Borussia Dortmund in their German Cup game against Werder Bremen.
Picking the ball up just inside the opposition half, the United States international slalomed through Werder’s defence before finding the back of the net after playing a neat one-two with Paco Alcacer.
However, it wasn’t enough to see his side progress to the next stage of the competition after they lost on penalties following a 3-3 draw after extra time.
Pulisic has been in and out of the team over the course of the season and he will leave the Westfalenstadion in the summer after joining Chelsea for £57.6million at the start of January.
Given that the long-term futures of Eden Hazard, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi are up in the air at present, the American could be set to play a big part in Maurizio Sarri’s side from August.
BT Sport pundit Gary Lineker believes the highly-rated player has a “real chance” of making a big impression at Stamford Bridge and he could become a “superstar” for Chelsea.
“I’ve seen quite a bit of him and I think he’s got a lot of talent,” he told football.london in an exclusive interview. “He’s not been an out-and-out regular in their side.
“I prefer Jadon Sancho to be perfectly honest from what I’ve seen, which is quite a lot as I do watch a hell of a lot of football from all leagues like a geek!
“He is talented, there’s no question about that.
“It’s good to see a young American talent because if he does become a superstar that will be a real lift for the game over the other side of the pond.
“He’s got a lot of talent and it will be interesting to see how he does at Chelsea.
“He’s got a real chance, but if I could pick one of them I would definitely go with Sancho.”
