Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he will be without defenders Benjamin Mendy and Vincent Kompany for the visit of Chelsea on Sunday.
The duo have both been out in recent weeks for City, with Mendy not featuring since the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Burton Albion last month due to a knee injury, while Kompany has been struggling for fitness after a minor injury, and has not played since a 2-1 win against title rivals Liverpool at the beginning of January.
And Guardiola has confirmed that neither player will be available when City face Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking specifically about Mendy, Guardiola said: “He is injured, it’s not easy.
“Injuries like his we need a process and we have to be careful.”
But Guardiola was surprised to learn of the Frenchman’s whereabouts though, after he was asked about Mendy being in Hong Kong, according to posts on social media.
“Wow, I didn’t know,” he said.
“He said he was going to Paris, but Hong Kong is far away. I need to download an Instagram account. It will definitely not be okay if he is in Hong Kong.”
