CHELSEA fans should get excited at the prospect of Christian Pulisic next season, says Borussia Dortmund team-mate Jadon Sancho.
Chelsea were one of the more active teams in the January transfer window after making two high-profile signings.
Gonzalo Higuain came in the try solve their striker crisis, which also saw Alvaro Morata farmed out to Atletico Madrid.
But much earlier in the month, a real was struck with Dortmund over the signing of Pulisic.
There had been much speculation over the American’s future, with Manchester United and Liverpool linked.
But it was the Blues that snapped up the 20-year-old, before loaning him back to the Bundesliga club.
However, the youngster has found his first-team chances dwindle after the emergence of Sancho.
The Englishman has been a revelation this season, scoring seven and assisting nine in 21 games.
Sancho joined Dortmund in the summer of 2017 after turning down the chance to stay at Manchester City.
But the 18-year-old has come out and said that it was Pulisic that inspired him to make the move to the Bundesliga in the first place.
Speaking to ESPN, he said: “The club had shown with a player like Christian Pulisic that they were going in the right way, playing youngsters and giving them a chance.
“He came from the same situation as me, leaving his family behind.
“He was so young, and he was brave enough. America is a lot further away than England and he’s taken a bigger step than I have done.
“How he’s handled that, what he does on the pitch, his mentality [towards] football, it’s just crazy. The passion he has. I admire him.
“He’s an outstanding player, I really do look up to him.
“Him going away from home shows that you have to do things to get out of your comfort zone, sometimes.
“I feel it’s worked for him and it’s working for me now, because we’re both staying focused and keep training hard.”
