CHELSEA star Eden Hazard has refused to renew his contract in order to force through a move to Real Madrid – but the Spanish club are yet to decide if they want him.
That’s the revelation made by Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
Hazard has been heavily linked with Real throughout the last year and he sparked speculation around his future in an ominous interview this week.
He told RMC Sport: “I know what I am going to do. I have made a decision.”
The Belgian was targeted by Real last summer as they sought a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
But a move never materialised and Hazard stayed put at Stamford Bridge, where he has enjoyed a stunning first half of the campaign.
Hazard’s contract expires next summer and with no indication he’s set to extend his deal, Chelsea may look to cash in to avoid losing him for free.
And Balague believes they may have to, insisting the former Lille star is avoiding signing fresh terms as he seeks a move to the Bernabeu.
“Hazard wants to go to Real Madrid,” he told El Partidazo de COPE.
“It is his dream and is waiting for them to decide to sign him.
“Hazard has refused to renew with Chelsea and everyone is waiting for their decision.”
Hazard joined Chelsea in 2012 and has won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup and the Europa League during his time in west London.
And yesterday El Chiringuito presenter Josep Pedrerol claimed Real are keen to bring him in for his experience.
“Hazard has managed to withstand the Chelsea pressure,” he said.
“They offered him astronomical figures to renew him, but he’s refused. Hazard has chosen Real Madrid.
“Finally, he gets to realise his dream. The Belgian is a different player, explosive, electric, a goalscorer.
“He will bring leadership to a Madrid side with a lot of youth.
“After Vinicius [Junior], Brahim [Diaz] or Rodrigo, there’s a lack of someone with experience. Hazard is someone who knows how to take a team on his shoulders.
“The time of Hazard has arrived, the time of Real Madrid’s rejuvenation has arrived.”
