Maurizio Sarri drops big hint star attacker will stay at Chelsea

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has hinted Callum Hudson-Odoi will stay with the club this month by insisting he will count on the winger during the remainder of the season.

The 18-year-old is determined to join the Bundesliga giants and is refusing to extend his current contract at the club, which expires in 18 months’ time.

Hudson-Odoi has featured in each of Chelsea’s last three fixtures as Sarri bids to convince the winger that his long-term future remains at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are unhappy with the manner of Bayern’s pursuit of Hudson-Odoi and Sarri has suggested his move to the Allianz Arena will be blocked.

Asked about his hopes for the January transfer window, Sarri replied: ‘As I said before, the club knows my opinion, and in my opinion we need two players.

‘If you ask me something else then I don’t know what to answer because I am not in charge of the market.

‘The bench is not very short. It has been left short in only one position at the moment because I think that Hudson-Odoi is improving.

‘In one or two months he will be at the same level as the other players. I hope the same for Ampadu.’
