Chelsea transfer news: Star to jet off and sign deal after Maurizio Sarri gives approval

CHELSEA star Cesc Fabregas has been given the thumbs up to complete a move to Monaco.

Fabregas is set to link up with former Arsenal team-mate Thierry Henry, who is the manager of the club.

The Spanish midfielder has slipped down the pecking order at Chelsea and will be allowed to leave this month.

His class and experienced will be welcomed by Henry, with Monaco struggling to stay up in the French top flight.

Monaco are 19th in the table and four points of safety.

Maurizio Sarri has several options at his disposal in midfield and Italian journalist Alfredo Pedula claims his countryman has now approved the deal taking Fabregas to France.

He wrote on Twitter: “#Fabregas has the green light of #Sarri: ready to fly to France for signing with #Monaco”

Fabregas was expected to play for Chelsea today in their FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

But it appears he may now instead jet to France to put the finishing touches to his transfer.

“Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has given the green light to Cesc Fabregas”

Fabregas is out of contract in the summer, but earlier this season said he’d be up for sticking around at the west London club.

“I’m very open about it,” Fabregas said.

“To be the honest the club has not said anything.

“At the end of the day I have eight months left and at the moment I’m gone.

“But I’d love to stay at the club. I’ve been very happy for the last four years and a half.

“We’ve had great success, won many things. I think I have a good understanding with the fans and players.

“I feel I still have a lot of football left in me but it is now up to the club.”

The Blues will make big changes for the Stamford Bridge clash against Aitor Karanka’s Forest.

Eden Hazard will be rested, with youngsters Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu set to start.

Olivier Giroud (ankle) and Pedro and Willian (both hamstring) are out.
