CHELSEA could be about to finally land Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan after his wife dropped a major Premier League transfer hint.
The Argentinian has been continuously linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent years but a move has never materialised.
However, Chelsea are in desperate need of a striker this month and Maurizio Sarri will be more than familiar with Icardi after watching him in Serie A.
And the Inter Milan striker’s wife and agent Wanda Nara has dropped hints that her husband may be about to leave the San Siro for another big European club.
“Icardi’s renewal with Inter is a long way off as things stand today,” Nara revealed to AS.
“There are very important clubs that are interested in signing Mauro and we are very far from reaching an agreement [with Inter].
“The figures that are being talked about in Italy about his contract renewal are not accurate.
“So far, we have not received a satisfactory offer from Inter.
“It is not logical for Mauro to renew on the same salary that he receives now.
“We believe that Mauro is at a superior level.
“We have a very good relationship with the two biggest clubs in Spain who are very interested in Mauro, as well as one in France and one in England.”
Chelsea are also keeping an eye on AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain, who is a personal favourite of Sarri.
However, if the Argentinian doesn’t move to west London, it is likely the Blues will launch a £50m bid for Callum Wilson.
Current Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata looks set to leave this month.
Sevilla have been the clear front-runners for the Spaniard in recent days.
However, reports in Morata’s homeland claim Atletico Madrid are ready to swoop in and steal the forward.
