Alan Shearer believes that Maurizio Sarri should take the blame for his side’s miserable 4-0 defeat at AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday evening.
The Blues suffered their biggest defeat in 23 years at the Vitality Stadium as Josh King and David Brooks heaped misery in a second-half horror show from Sarri’s side.
Sarri spent nearly an hour with his players in the dressing room following the defeat and he once again admitted that he is struggling to motivate his players.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer hit out at the Blues boss and suggested that it isn’t good enough from the Italian boss.
He said: “That was an embarrassing defeat for him and embarrassing performance.
“When your backs are against the wall, you are looking at your team saying ‘come on, give us something’.
“He’s looking at his team again tonight, for the second successive league game.
“He’s come out again tonight saying he’s finding it difficult to motivate these players. Well that is his job to motivate these players.
“He’s now got his man in, in (Gonzalo) Higuain, so it has to improve and they now find themselves outside of the top four. It’s got to improve, massively.”
