London rivals Tottenham will go head-to-head with Chelsea in a bid to sign Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic in the summer.
According to Spanish outlet AS, as cited on Sport Witness, the La Liga giants are unlikely to keep the player for next season due to the behaviour that he displayed before joining Chelsea.
The Croatian midfielder had previously fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu and was eager to leave during the previous summer transfer window.
Kovacic joined Chelsea on loan as part of the deal that saw Thibaut Courtois move to Real, but the Blues do not have an option to buy the player as part of the deal.
The report claims that the midfielder would be keen on a permanent stay in London with the Blues, with talks already underway.
However, after not signing a single player in the previous transfer window, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are likely to be busy at the end of the season and are reportedly admirers of the midfielder.
