Player willing to ‘cut the cord’ with Chelsea, wants to ‘build something’ at other club

After signing a three-year extension in the summer, Chelsea allowed Ola Aina to join Torino on a season-long loan deal.

He’s started in 11 Serie A games in the wing-back position and Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the 22-year-old has adjusted to his new life in three months.

It’s claimed the Nigerian international has adapted to his new teammates, dressing room, the league with his current club and in addition to this, the city and food in Turin.

He is now convinced to extend his stay with Walter Mazzarri’s side beyond this season.

Aina is taking instructions well from his manager and the united dressing room, coupled with his age has made him take a decision to ‘cut the cord’ with Chelsea because he wants to ‘build something’ at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

The report gives a background on Torino’s interest in the player as their sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has been chasing Aina for two years before taking him on loan for this campaign.

When Chelsea confirmed Aina’s temporary move, there was no mention of an option to buy, but Gazzetta claims Torino can secure the player’s services on a permanent deal for €10m.

Aina’s wish is to continue with the Italian side and the latter are also willing to keep him beyond this season, meaning it is now down to Chelsea to take a decision, if they still have the power to do so.
