Chelsea are still very interested in signing Christian Pulisic, but they will bide their time until the summer to bring him to the club.
According to the Sun the £70m being asked for the young American talent by Borussia Dortmund is putting the Blues off when it comes to a January switch
Come the summer, Pulisic will be entering the last year of his deal, so we might expect some kind of discount. But that’s hardly certain.
If he finishes the season well and attracts the attention of other clubs there could end up being a bidding war that means he ends up costing more.
It’s a calculated risk, especially when you consider he might well benefit from having an extra 6 months to settle and get used to Maurizio Sarri’s system.
But in the end, if Dortmund don’t want to sell they don’t want to sell, and there’s only so much we can do about that.
Chelsea news: Maurizio Sarri advised to sell N’Golo Kante, ‘I feel sorry for him’
CHELSEA boss Maurizio Sarri has been advised to sell N’Golo Kante if he is going to play him out of position.
Jorginho, who joined Chelsea from Napoli alongside Sarri, has taken Kante’s role as the midfield anchor.
As a result, the World Cup winner has been used in a box-to-box role.
Sarri claimed Kante is playing out of position because he is not technically good enough to dictate play in midfield.
And Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier believes Chelsea might as well cash in on Kante.
“I feel sorry for him, I really do,” Le Tissier said on Sky Sports.
“He’s one of the best in the world in that position.
“Unfortunately, this coach doesn’t want to play in a way that suits him.
“He’s playing him a little bit out of position and you feel for players when they’re being asked to play in a unnatural position.
“They’re not going to be as good as playing in their natural position.
“I have a lot of sympathy for him and if this is the way the coach wants to play, he actually might as well sell N’Golo Kante.”
Sarri made his comments about Kante before the Europa League clash against PAOK.
Chelsea headed into the fixture on the back of the 3-1 defeat at Tottenham.
Sarri criticised Kante’s performance in the Spurs loss, and added: “I want to play a central midfielder who is a very technical player, so for me, it’s Jorginho or (Cesc) Fabregas.
“I don’t want Kante in this position.”
Kante put pen to paper on a five-year Chelsea contract last month.
“I’m happy to extend my time with Chelsea, it has been two beautiful years and I wish for more to come,” he said after signing the new deal.
