Chelsea news: Surprise Jorginho claim made about N’Golo Kante by AC Milan legend

CHELSEA star N’Golo Kante is not as bright as his fellow midfielder Jorginho.

That’s according to legendary AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has been criticised in recent weeks for playing Kante in a more advanced position than he usual takes up.

His theory is that the formation allows defensive midfielder Jorginho to play in his more familiar role.

The former Napoli star has suffered in recent weeks and was left for dead by Spurs’ Son Heung-Min in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat.

Jorginho was then dropped by Sarri for Chelsea’s shock 2-1 loss to newly-promoted Wolves in midweek.

But Sacchi is confident that his compatriot will be proven correct in the long run.

“I can see there is a will to follow him,” he told the Daily Mail, backing the Chelsea manager’s faith in Jorginho.

“Kante is a great player; extraordinary in his generosity, for the number of times he steals the ball.

“But when it comes to game construction, he is not as bright as Jorginho.

“Jorginho’s talent has increased with practice.

“He is a normal player or maybe even less than normal for a team based on individuality, physical strength or technical ability.

“But he is exceptional for a team with an idea of the game.”

Chelsea face an even tougher task when they take on Premier League leaders Manchester City tomorrow (5.30pm)

Eden Hazard says City’s collective efforts are the reason they are leading the pack once again.

“City are all about team play,” he told Belgian broadcaster Play Sports. “You can see a lot of movement from them.

“That creates spaces, they get their crosses in, and I think they have more answers that way.”
