Chelsea FC are lining up a £20m bid to try and sign Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
Reports state that Maurizio Sarri has identified the defender as one of the Blues’ top transfer targets as the mid-season window draws nearer.
Sarri managed Hysaj at Napoli last season but did not bring him with him to Stamford Bridge when he took over at the west London club in the summer.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC are now prepared to try and test Napoli’s resolve by tabling a firm offer for the 24-year-old to try and sign him in January.
However, it is claimed in the same story that Sarri would have to offload Davide Zappacosta before signing a new defender. The article says that both Lazio and AS Roma are interested in signing Zappacosta.
Hysaj has been a regular fixture in the Napoli team so far this season, making one assist in 14 Serie A games for the Italian side.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their Europa League clash against Vidi on Thursday night.
Sarri’s side became the first team to beat Manchester City in the Premier League this season when they sealed a 2-0 victory over the Citizens at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.
