Claudio Ranieri sends a message to Eden Hazard in thinly-veiled dig at Spurs

Claudio Ranieri makes a return to Stamford Bridge this Sunday when he new club Fulham take on Chelsea in the Premier League.

The former Blues boss has taken over at Craven Cottage from Slavisa Jokanovic and clinched his first victory with a 3-2 win over Southampton last weekend.

Ranieri is trying to keep Fulham up this season after a poor start to the campaign, but of course one of his greatest achievements was winning the Premier League title with Leicester in the 2015/16 season.

The Foxes beat the odds to secure the title, with Chelsea playing a big part in the final stages of the campaign when Spurs came to Stamford Bridge on May 2.

The ‘Battle of the Bridge’ occurred and Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son gave the visitors the lead. Gary Cahill got one back, before Eden Hazard netted late in the game to earn a draw and hand Leicester the title.

Ranieri was named Manager of the Season as well, but he has never forgotten his time at Chelsea and thanked Hazard for the role that he played in Leicester’s hstory.

“It’s special because I came in England by Chelsea and made four years there, it was fantastic years and also Hazard scored a great goal for Leicester, thank you Eden.”

Of course, this weekend Ranieri will be hoping to keep the Belgian quiet as best he can, while Hazard is trying to end a drought of nine games with no goals for club and country.
