CHELSEA midfielder Ross Barkley is currently performing better than he ever has before in his career.
Those are the thoughts of Sky Sports pundit and ex-Liverpool and England midfielder Jamie Redknapp.
Barkley joined Chelsea from Everton in January for a fee of around £15million.
He initially struggled to break into Antonio Conte’s side as he was making his way back from a long-term injury.
But new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is clearly a fan of the 24-year-old, with today’s match at Crystal Palace already his 15th appearance in all competitions this season.
Barkley’s form earned him recall to the England squad, where he played against Croatia in the Nations League last month.
Ahead of the Palace clash, Redknapp admits he has been impressed by Barkley and says he has not seen him play better.
“Yeah it’s his all-round game, good decision making,” Redknapp said.
“He looks in the form of his life, very confident.
“His all-round game is improving, he’s growing up as a person and as a player.
“He suffered with injuries, he had a hamstring last year, I remember when he was a very young man he had a terrible knee injury, leg break.
“He’s 24, you forget that sometimes.
“He’s got all the attributes this boy, I’ve been so impressed with him.
“He didn’t go to the World Cup.
“People talk about dribbling and passing – I like it when this boy dribbles.
“Any defender, the last thing you want is someone picking the ball up and running at you.”
