Chelsea news: Eden Hazard ‘to stay for the long-term’ amid Real Madrid transfer interest

CHELSEA star Eden Hazard will put pen to paper on a new Blues long-term contract because he is happy in London.

That is according to pundit and former Liverpool star Danny Murphy.

Hazard is stalling on a new deal at present as rumours persist regarding a move to Real Madrid.

The Belgian has repeatedly spoke of his love for the Spanish giants – but also teased he would be willing to spend the rest of his career at Stamford Bridge.

And Murphy believes Hazard will remain in west London for the foreseeable future by signing a new contract soon.

“Hazard is the best player in the Premier League and I can see him staying at Chelsea for the long term, if he is offered the right contract,” he told Bwin.

“I think his family are happy in London and there’s no guarantee he would get that freedom and happiness at Real Madrid.

“I think Hazard could become Chelsea’s best player in history if he chooses to stay at the club.

“He has conducted himself so well throughout the speculation and the fans love him even more for it.”

Speaking recently, Hazard himself said: “I’m going to stop. Let me put it this way, if I ever play for Real Madrid, I will be very happy, and if I will never play for Real Madrid, it is because it is not allowed.

“And then I will be happy at Chelsea.”

But fellow countryman Steven Defour has tipped Hazard to leave the Premier League for La Liga.

“The Premier League is still the best competition in the world,” he said.

“But if you are talking club-wise, Real Madrid and Barcelona are above the Premier League.

“As a player, you want to play at the highest level. The highest level is the Premier League, but the highest clubs at this moment are Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“It is still a personal choice. If you are an English player playing for a top club in England, that might be good for you.

“Since Eden was a little boy, he has dreamed about playing for Real Madrid and at some point when you get the opportunity you might take it.”
