‘Pray to God’ – These Chelsea fans react to potential fitness blow ahead of Man United visit

During Friday night’s 0-0 Nations League bore draw played out behind closed doors in Rijeka between Croatia and England, Mateo Kovacic sustained an injury. The Croatia midfielder was subsequently replaced by Milan Badelj in the second half.

The extent of the injury is as yet unverified, but Chelsea fans will be hoping that it is merely a minor knock and that the 24-year-old – currently on loan at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid – will be fit for the Blues’ huge upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester United.

Whilst Maurizio Sarri’s squad is well stocked with midfield talent, Kovacic has been a starter for the London club so far this season and he would be a big miss for Chelsea. Should the Croatian prove unfit to face the Red Devils, though, Ross Barkley would likely take his place in the starting XI.

Following his withdrawal from action against England, plenty of concerned Chelsea fans took to Twitter to express their dismay with Kovacic’s misfortune…
