It’s been a stunning start to the season for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard .

Seven goals across all competitions, two assists, one hat-trick, a goal of the season contender and suggestions that on current form he’s the best player in the world – ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

For the second time in the space of three days he put Liverpool to the sword which came hot on the heels of more praise from Reds legend Jamie Carragher.

“Hazard is the Premier League’s best player,” he claimed in the Telegraph . “I said it during my commentary as Chelsea defeated Liverpool in the first of the two meetings this week.

“This judgment is based on the last six years, not the first six games of this season.

“There are outstanding rivals worthy of inclusion in this debate. Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and David Silva are among the best.

“All possess special qualities. De Bruyne and Silva are artists with the ball. Kane, Aguero and Salah are killers in and around the penalty area.

“Hazard brings something the others do not – dribbling ability, running at pace, beating several men from deep before delivering a spectacular finish.

“He has the capacity to make you shout ‘wow’ as I did when he scored the goal that knocked Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup.”

Whilst many could debate Carragher’s claims about Hazard being the best player in the Premier League, there’s no argument in regards to him being the most valuable player in the top flight of English football.

A stat revealed by FiveThirtyEight shows the Belgian leads the charts for progressive passes and runs per 90 in the Premier League so far this season.

As seen in the image above, Hazard is ahead of players such as David Silva, Paul Pogba, his Chelsea teammate Willian, Tottenham star Christian Eriksen as well as Arsenal duo Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka
