Times are pretty hard for Manchester United so far this season and Chelsea might be able to hit another body blow when the two teams meet in the Premier League on October 20.
Things might have got harder for the Red Devils with a major injury worry as Nemanja Matic has pulled out of international duty with Serbia and has become a doubt for the clash at Stamford Bridge a week on Saturday.
The 30-year-old was due to face Montenegro and Romania with his county, but United have announced that he will be staying at the club to continue his rehabilitation and could be a doubt to face the Blues.
However, Matic would not be the first player to have pulled out of playing for is country before being fit in time to play for his club’s next match, with UEFA bringing in the Nations League to try to prevent meaningless friendlies.
Matic had two spells with the Blues while Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club, joining the former Chelsea manager at Old Trafford in the summer of 2017.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw has also pulled out of the England squad for the matches against Croatia and Spain, described as a ‘small setback’ and again could be a doubt for Stamford Bridge match.
The 23-year-old has fought his way back into the starting team at United after his long-term injury from a double-leg break, and has hit some good form at left-back.
