For the second time this season Antonio Rudiger picked up a groin injury after he needed treatment from the Chelsea physios right after the 3-0 win over Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
The 25-year-old had previously hobbled off in the 0-0 draw against West Ham last month after the Europa League match, however this time the injury has forced him out of international duty for Germany in the next few days.
The centre-back had been selected for the German side’s matches against Netherlands in the Nations League and then away in France in the same competition, but has now pulled out.
Rudiger tweeted out that he would not be joining up with his national side and that he would be remaining at home to train with the club and get himself back to full fitness.
The Blues have a massive Premier League match with Manchester United on October 20 when the players return, and Maurizio Sarri will be desperate to have him back in time for it.
I won't be available for the @dfb_team for the upcoming 2 matches due to a groin problem. I will do some individual training sessions during the int. break and I'm confident to be back soon👊🏾 Best of luck to my German teammates for the next 2 games 🇩🇪🙏🏾 #Hustle #AlwaysBelieve
