Pedro sends message to Chelsea fans on Instagram after suffering injury v Paok

Pedro has allayed fears he suffered a serious injury during Chelsea’s Europa League victory over PAOK Salonika.

The Spanish forward had a collision with goalkeeper Alexandros Paschakalis in injury-time during the 1-0 victory in Greece on Thursday evening.

Pedro was unable to continue and Chelsea had already used their three substitutes meaning Maurizio Sarri’s side were forced to see out the final few minutes a man down.

Chelsea fans were fearing that Pedro would be set for a spell on the sidelines following the injury but he has taken to Instagram to allay the concerns.

‘Good start in the Europa League,’ he posted. ‘Everything’s ok despite the incident at the end of the game. Come on Blues!’

Following the match, Sarri was unable to provide an extensive update on Pedro’s fitness but said he did not think the situation was serious.

‘I don’t know exactly the situation,’ the Blues manager said. ‘I spoke for a few seconds, but that probably it is not a serious injury.’

Sarri was pleased with his team’s victory over PAOK but admitted he was frustrated Chelsea failed to kill the game off after Willian’s early goal.

‘I think we were in control of the match for 90 minutes,’ he added. ‘We had a lot of opportunities.

‘I am very happy with the three points, but not the result. We didn’t kill the match.’

Chelsea continue their Premier League campaign this weekend with a trip across London to face West Ham.
