Marcos Alonso has insisted that he doesn’t think that Eden Hazard was close to a move away from Chelsea FC to Real Madrid this summer.
The Belgian playmaker’s situation at the Stamford Bridge club was a constant source of speculation in the summer months, with Real Madrid having been strongly linked with a move to bring him to Spain.
The 27-year-old’s future was a source of uncertainty because his current contract at the west London club is due to expire in the summer of 2020.
Hazard has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid but the playmaker has ended up staying at Chelsea FC and he has begun the season strongly under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
And Alonso insists that the playmaker seems happy at Chelsea FC as he looks to try and help the Blues enjoy a strong season under their new boss.
Speaking in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Alonso said: “I did not see Hazard in Madrid (this summer).
“He’s very happy at Chelsea. I do not know if there was interest or not but Hazard and his family are very well there (at Chelsea).”
Chelsea FC have won all four of their opening Premier League games this season to lead the way at the top of the top-flight table.
The west London side are looking to be one of the main contenders for the title after finishing fifth in the table last term.
