New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri included Callum Hudson-Odoi in the starting XI for his first competitive match as Blues manager – the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City.
Since then, however, the 17-year-old hasn’t been named in a single matchday squad.
When the Premier League side travelled to Greece to open their Europa League campaign against PAOK last week, Hudson-Odoi made the trip but did not even make the bench.
Now, Sarri will have another chance to give the talented teenager some more minutes for the senior side when Chelsea take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
Both sides are expected to rotate heavily for this encounter, making it an ideal opportunity for Hudson-Odoi to get out onto the field and show everyone what he’s capable of.
Sarri should not miss this chance to give the young attacker some precious experience.
Chelsea fans would certainly appreciate Hudson-Odoi’s involvement. When we asked them if they wanted to see the England under-19 international start against the Reds, 89% said yes.
