Chelsea news: Hazard warns Liverpool, Giroud predicts Sarri changes, Kovacic on Modric

Eden Hazard has sent a warning to Liverpool ahead of their two meetings this week in the Carabao Cup and the Premier League.

He told the club’s website: “Next weekend we play Liverpool at home. I hope we can keep this momentum and keep winning games.

“Everyone can score goals and create chances, so that’s why we have been good.

“We need to keep playing like this and we have confidence at the moment to do so.

“Liverpool is the kind of game where you want to shine, so we will I hope.”

Olivier Giroud has predicted Maurizio Sarri will make several changes to his line-up for the Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.

“They will provide a real test of how good we are,” the striker told the Evening Standard.

“We need to show team character after the West Ham game, so there is nothing better than to play the team at the top of the League. It will be a good test.

“The coach will obviously make some changes for the League Cup tie, but we have many players with quality and we have a good team.

“We want to be strong and show them that it won’t be easy for them at Anfield. We want to keep the confidence high and come back to London with good momentum and start a winning run again.”

Mateo Kovacic has revealed Real Madrid star Luka Modric was sad to see him leave the Bernabeu for Stamford Bridge this season.

The midfielder explained: “Well, after two years of struggling in Madrid, playing and not playing, it was difficult.

“You don’t have confidence, you don’t try things you know. This year was my final decision to go.

“Chelsea came and I spoke with the coach so it was definitely for me just Chelsea so I wanted to come here. In the end I’m happy that it happened.

“[Modric] obviously was not happy that I would leave because we had three amazing years together winning a lot of trophies.

“This year I looked only at myself and this is what I need. He obviously was happy for me that I got what I wanted.”
