Pat Nevin has urged Maurizio Sarri to give Ethan Ampadu a chance to impress in the Chelsea FC first team this season.
The 17-year-old joined Chelsea FC from Exeter last summer and made a handful of first-team appearances under Antonio Conte last term, earning plenty of praise for his mature performances.
Ampadu has yet to feature in the Premier League under new manager Sarri this season but he played for Wales against both the Republic of Ireland and Denmark during the international break, and earned lots of praise for his solid performances.
The teenager will be hoping to prove himself to new manager Sarri in the coming weeks and months as Chelsea FC look to try and challenge for the title.
And Nevin believes that it is only a matter of time before Ampadu becomes a regular fixture in the Chelsea FC first team.
Writing in his column for Chelsea FC’s website, Ampadu said: “Ethan is only 17, he can play in those two vital positions [central defence and midfield] comfortably already at a very high level, while his attitude and demeanour suggest it maybe isn’t a question of if he will be a regular starter for the Blues, but rather when he will be.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge.
The west London side have made a strong start to the new campaign and have won all four of their Premier League games so far under new manager Sarri.
