Today’s the day: this afternoon the draw will be made for Chelsea’s group in the UEFA Europa League.
Chelsea have published a helpful guide to the teams we can face in the group stage, ranging from the elite of Europe like AC Milan and Marseille to F91 Dudelange and MOL Vidi.
The full list is here, although we’ve summarised the groups below:
Pot Two: Sporting Lisbon, Copenhagen, Marseille, AC Milan, Genk Fenerbahce. Krasnodar, PAOK Salonika, Celtic, Rapid Vienna, Ludogorets, Astana.
Pot Three: Dinamo Zagreb, Rennes, RB Leipzig, Standard Liege, FC Zurich, BATE Borisov, Malmo, Frankfurt, Spartak Moscow, Real Betis, Bordeaux, Qarabag.
Pot Four: Rosenborg, Sarsborg. F91 Duelange, Vorskla Poltava, Jablonec, Slavia Prague, Akhisar, Mol Vidi, Spartak Trnava, Apollon Limassol, AEK LArnaca, Rangers.
In the Champions League you’re looking for a weak draw, but in the Europa League you just have to enjoy the journey. It will be our second string playing at this stage, so we want difficult ties but close to home.
The first Europa League matchday is on Thursday 20 September. The final is to be held on 29 May 2019 in the Olympic Stadium in Baku, where we defeated Qarabag last season.
20 September: Group stage, matchday one
4 October: Group stage, matchday two
25 October: Group stage, matchday three
8 November: Group stage, matchday four
