Tiemoue Bakayoko will be confirmed as an AC Milan player on Monday after arriving in Italy to complete his loan move from Chelsea.
Signed from Ligue 1 side Monaco last summer in a big-money deal, it turned out to be an incredibly frustrating campaign for the midfielder, thus seeing him miss out on France’s World Cup squad in the process.
Seen as the man to partner N’Golo Kante in the middle of the park, the 23-year-old made 43 appearances for the FA Cup winners but he found himself in and out of the team over the season.
With chances in the Chelsea team looking extremely limited this term, the ex-Rennes man will seal a season-long loan move to AC Milan as he bids to get his career back on track.
The Rossoneri will also reportedly have the option of buying the player on a permanent deal next summer for €40m (£35.7m).
Having landed in Italy on Sunday evening, footage obtained from Gianluca Di Marzio showed the midfielder arriving in Milan early on Monday morning to undergo his medical.

Bakayoko is then expected to put pen-to-paper on a season-long loan deal in the afternoon.
Not part of Chelsea’s squad for their opening day win at Huddersfield Town, Maurizio Sarri started with Kante, Jorginho and Ross Barkley in midfield in west Yorkshire.
While Cesc Fabregas is currently recovering from a knee injury picked up in the Blues’ pre-season game against Arsenal, Sarri also has Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater as other potential midfield options.
