Chelsea have gotten off to an excellent start under new manager Maurizio Sarri, as the Blues look to get back amongst the Champions League places.
A quiet enough summer at the Bridge saw Thibaut Courtois moved out in the biggest move, while replacement Kepa has made a solid enough start to life in England and looks to be an excellent new signing.
However, with the summer window gone and only January to focus on, we at the Transfer Tavern think the Blues need to be spending big again on Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich.
Kimmich is a cut above their current right backs in Victor Moses and Davide Zappacosta, and while Bayern see him as a key man, he could well fancy a move into the English game.
Despite not having the best time with Germany over in Russia this summer, Kimmich is still recognised as one of the best in the world in his position, and rightly so. A classy operator, Kimmich would bring a new element to the Chelsea defence and offer a serious threat going forward down the right hand side.
Quick, dangerous in attack, and crucially, solid in defence, Kimmich is a genuine world class player, and is exactly the sort of player a club like Chelsea should be looking to snap up.
