Chelsea news: Barkley Praise, chance to sign Liverpool target turned down

Leeds eye Brown
Izzy Brown is likely to be Leeds United’s sixth and final addition of the summer as he edges towards a loan move from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old would be the third player to arrive from Stamford Bridge in this window after Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker signed in the close season.

Brown has had several loan spells away from the London club since arriving from West Bromwich Albion as a teenager in 2013.

Arnhem club Vitesse was his home in 2015/16 before he played for both Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town in 2016/17 in the Championship.

He played a starring role for the Terriers in their promotion-winning season to the Premier League.

France squad announced
Chelsea duo N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud have been named in the France squad for their upcoming Nations League games against Germany and Holland.

Chelsea rejected the chance to sign long-time Liverpool target Nabil Fekir, Lyon’s president has claimed.

The French midfielder was close to signing for the Anfield club before he went on to win the World Cup with France.

Liverpool pulled out of a deal due to medical concerns and the 25-year-old decided to remain with the Ligue 1 club.

But Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas revealed the player was offered to Chelsea.

Kenedy singled out for Newcastle cup defeat
It’s going from bad to worse for Kenedy at Newcastle United.

The Chelsea winger rejoined the Magpies for another loan spell earlier in the summer but has endured a rather difficult time back at St James’ Park so far.

Giroud ready to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea
Olivier Giroud is ready to fight for his place with Alvaro Morata at Stamford Bridge, according to The Mirror.

Chelsea striker Giroud was on the bench for Maurizio Sarri’s first three Premier League games in charge.

Blues boss Sarri has preferred Morata with Giroud given an extended break after France’s World Cup campaign in the summer.

But Giroud is now pushing hard for a start against Bournemouth on Saturday with Morata struggling for form and confidence.

Arsenal legend fears for Chelsea
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has warned Chelsea fans that the potential departure of Roman Abramovich would be a disaster.

Chelsea fans reckon they struck gold by keeping Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge after all the early summer talk he would head to Real Madrid.

But if Russian owner Roman Abramovich decides to walk away, they could find themselves with a far bigger problem to worry about.

Should the Blues end up in new hands, I genuinely feel the celebrations at keeping Hazard will be short-lived.

If Roman did cut and run, I believe it would be a disaster for Chelsea FC — full stop.Praise for Ross Barkley
Chelsea winger Victor Moses has said that Ross Barkley has been the best player in training recently.

Everyone has been good, everyone is working hard but I’d say Ross Barkley.

He had a big injury but he’s started the season really well and he’s working his socks off.

Juventus chief slams Chelsea decision
Former Juventus chief Luciano Moggi has hit out at Chelsea’s appointment of Maurizio Sarri in the summer. It was a move that was expected but took a hefty chunk of the summer for it to take place and the Blues have started the Premier League season well under their new boss.
