CHELSEA ace Callum Hudson-Odoi can reach the highest level of the game, Cesar Azpilicueta believes.
Hudson-Odoi has enjoyed a fine pre-season with Chelsea and is set to be part of Maurizio Sarri’s first-team plans this season.
The 17-year-old forward, who made four Blues appearances last term, was impressive in yesterday’s friendly defeat to Arsenal in Dublin.
Following that display, Azpilicueta has hailed his young team-mate and tipped him to go far.
The Spanish defender said: “Callum is very talented.
“He has shown great character, great quality and is playing very well. His performances during pre-season have been very good and now it’s up to him to keep up that level.
“If he keeps doing that he will be very important for the team. It is all about consistency.
“He is coming from an academy level. He played with us a few times last season and he is improving. That is really important.
“But he has still room to improve. He is just 17 and he can go far.”
Sarri has confirmed that Hudson-Odoi will have a role to play at Stamford Bridge in the upcoming Premier League campaign.
He said: “He will stay with us for all the season.
“He is a very young player. We have to wait. In the future he will be a very, very strong player.”
Hudson-Odoi will hope to get another chance to impress when Chelsea take on Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday.
The Blues then have another pre-season fixture at home to Lyon before their Premier League opener away to Huddersfield next weekend.
