Italian international flies out for Chelsea

Napoli midfielder Jorginho is flying out to London tonight and could have his Chelsea medical tomorrow morning.

According to Sportitalia and CalcioNapoli24, the Italy international of Brazilian heritage flew from Naples to Milan today, where he held final negotiations with his agent and Chelsea representatives.

He then got on a plane heading to London and is expected to have his medical on Thursday.

Jorginho had been in advanced negotiations with Manchester City for weeks, but today Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed there had been a change of plan.

“I’ll have to apologise to Manchester City. However, if the player would rather live in London than Manchester, I can understand that.

“If Chelsea are paying him even more, I can understand that too.”

It’s reported Chelsea will pay €65m plus bonuses for the combined purchase of Jorginho and Coach Maurizio Sarri.

“Jorginho would go to Chelsea regardless of Sarri,” insisted De Laurentiis.

Chelsea set to make a move for Gonzalo Higuain after managerial change

Chelsea in for Higuain
Chelsea are chasing Gonzalo Higuain, who has of course worked with Maurizio Sarri, the man the Blues are hoping to install as their new manager.

The Blues have been quiet this summer, and many people expected them to have sacked Conte by now and gone on a spending spree – yet that hasn’t happened, and it seems that the Blues will look to buy only once Sarri is installed as their manager.

The Express report Betway saying: “With Maurizio Sarri’s appointment as the new Chelsea manager seemingly imminent, we’ve seen an interesting move on Gonzalo Higuain joining him, with the Juventus man now just 8/11 to move to Chelsea.

“The pair worked together at Napoli and with Alvaro Morata struggling in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, it appears Higuain is the man Sarri wants to lead his new club’s attack.

“The Argentinian striker has scored over 50 goals for Juventus and is 11/10 to stay in Turin, which looks the only other alternative with Inter Milan next in the betting at 14/1.”

Of course, Chelsea are yet to get rid of Antonio Conte, yet it seems the manager will be leaving, with reports claiming he’s set to be sacked this week, once the club agree terms with Sarri, who they’ve been courting all summer.

Conte himself seems happy to take his payout and then spend some time away from football, waiting for the right job to come up next – and doesn’t want to rush into a job he feels is below his level.
