The 37-year-old left for Villa a year ago but after just one season in the Championship has departed Villa Park having started 35 league matches.
The Villains lost the play-off final to Fulham at Wembley Stadium back in May and in light of their failure to gain promotion, Terry has since become a free agent.
As he looks to find a new club, the ex-England captain is making use of Chelsea’s training facilities at their Cobham headquarters.
The veteran center-back posted to his Instagram several stories short clips of him having been back in Chelsea kit at the club’s training ground for the first time in over 12 months since last week.
The former Blues captain has trained alongside rehabilitating youngster Ethan Ampadu and Chelsea Women’s star Karen Carney.
Terry – who spent 19 years in Chelsea’s senior squad after coming through their academy – has been linked with a Stamford Bridge return in a coaching capacity.
But he is not yet ready to hang his boots up and has been touted as a possible signing at Derby County, where fellow Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is in his first senior coaching role.
Terry and Lampard were long-time team-mates and crucial members of the Blues squad and have been linked with a reunion, though no move has transpired yet despite Lampard being appointed in late May.
Chelsea’s pre-season preparations have begun although their first warm-up clash is not until July 23 against Perth Glory in Australia.
The west London club faces Inter Milan, Arsenal and Lyon in the International Champions Cup while they also take on Premier League winners Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 5 as a result of their recent FA Cup triumph.
It was expected that Chelsea would have had a new manager in charge by now with Maurizio Sarri widely expected to replace Italian countryman Antonio Conte – but the ex-Napoli man is yet to be appointed with Conte still at the helm.
Chelsea FC name their asking price for FC Barcelona target – report
Chelsea FC would be looking for a transfer fee in the region of £70m if they are to sell Willian to FC Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Blues would seek a fee of around £70m if they are to cash in on the Brazilian attacker this summer.
Willian’s future at Stamford Bridge has been something of a source of speculation recently due to his lack of regular first-team football under Antonio Conte last season.
The 29-year-old has been touted as a target for Manchester United in the past, but he is now also being linked with a potential move to FC Barcelona.
The same story says that Willian’s proposed move to FC Barcelona could pave the way for Paulinho to leave the Spanish club.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are yet to make any new signings this summer despite having been heavily linked with a number of players.
The west London side finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season as they missed out on Champions League qualification under Conte.
However, they did manage to end the campaign on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final back in May.
