CHELSEA are closing in on Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.
The Ivory Coast international is reported to be in London with Chelsea and Arsenal interested.
The £35m buyout clause in his contract is set to expire soon, so clubs are going in search of a deal quickly.
A move to the Premier League is believed to be Seri’s preference as he looks to leave Ligue 1’s Nice.
And it appears Chelsea have stolen a march on their rivals in the race to land the 26-year-old’s signature.
Yahoo Sport reporter and French journalist Manu Lonjon claims Seri has given his approval to a move to Stamford Bridge.
Seri has apparently agreed personal terms over a potential transfer.
And he is now close to joining the Blues, despite their managerial situation remaining unresolved for now.
Seri is now said to be waiting for Chelsea and Nice to come to an agreement.
But it would seem likely there would be no issues if the Blues trigger his release clause.
West Ham and Fulham have also been linked with interest in Seri, as well as Unai Emery’s Gunners.
However, Chelsea can offer European football, albeit not in the Champions League following their fifth-place finish last season.
In west London, Seri would be expected to play under Maurizio Sarri, with the former Napoli manager’s arrival seemingly imminent.
