Chelsea have made an enquiry for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
According to the Daily Mail, Kovacic is being considered by the Blues as an alternative to Arsenal ace Aaron Ramsey.
The Croatia international is eager to leave Real Madrid after failing to nail down a regular spot in the starting XI.
“I want to play more and the best thing is to leave Madrid,” he told MARCA in June.
“I love football and being on the pitch, I want the opportunity to be a starter for another team.
“I think that in Real Madrid all the players are important. The problem is that for a young player it is difficult to have continuity and without that continuity I will never be able to show my potential.
Chelsea have submitted a fresh proposal for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
According to Calciomercato, the Blues offered £103m (€115m) plus Charly Musonda to the Serie A giants.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito is attempting to scare off the Serbia international’s suitors by demanding €150m (£134m).
Lotito reportedly hopes Manchester United and Real Madrid force a bidding war.
Milinkovic-Savic finally reported for pre-season earlier today – later than expected.
He missed his flight to Rome due to heavy traffic in Belgrade.
Maurizio Sarri agreed not to buy any players from Napoli – apart from Jorginho.
Chelsea appointed Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement earlier this month after drawn-out negotiations.
Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Napoli president, said: “I only let him go once he had signed a contract which stated he would not be allowed to sign any of our players – apart from Jorginho.
“There was a huge battle to take more of our players but they didn’t manage it.”
Chelsea were linked with Napoli duo Kalidou Koulibaly and Dries Mertens before Sarri’s appointment.
