CHELSEA boss Antonio Conte will tell Roman Abramovich to scrap one planned Maurizio Sarri transfer if he stays at Stamford Bridge, reports suggest.
Chelsea boss Conte reported to pre-season training today despite Sarri’s appointment edging closer.
The former Napoli manager is hellbent on taking over at Stamford Bridge but, regardless of that desire, it may not happen.
Chelsea remain locked in talks with Napoli over a compensation package and, if they fail to find an agreement, then Conte will stay.
The Italian has cut a bullish figure over the last 12 months with his relationship with Abramovich understood to be in tatters.
And Football London say Conte will tell Chelsea to scrap one planned Sarri signing if he stays put.
Express Sport understands Sarri is determined to bring in Juventus’ Daniele Rugani.
Rugani could be part of a mass exodus at the Serie A giants as they prepare to raise funds for Cristiano Ronaldo’s imminent arrival.
And Football London say Conte does not want the Italy international to move to Stamford Bridge.
That is reportedly because he feels Davide Zappacosta and Victor Moses can both fulfil similar roles.
Chelsea will, though, likely give more game time to Kurt Zouma.
And David Luiz and Gary Cahill could both be shown the door after toiling last season.
Conte, meanwhile, last discussed his Chelsea future back in May in the wake of their FA Cup final win over Manchester United.
“After two years, Chelsea know me very well,” Conte said.
“If they want to continue to work with me, they know me. I can’t change. I am this and my past speaks very clearly, as a player and as a manager.
“I’m a serial winner. I showed this in England in a difficult moment for the club after a 10th-place finish [in 2015-16]. In two seasons, I brought two trophies for this club.”
