Chelsea offer bumper new contract offer to keep star player at the club

Chelsea are reportedly preparing a new contract for N’Golo Kante in a bid to ward off interest from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Calcio Mercato, who cite claims from Paris United, reports that Chelsea are hoping that they can do enough to keep the player at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain have previously expressed an interest in bringing the player to France.

The Ligue 1 champions have been looking to take advantage of Chelsea’s lack of Champions League football.

Chelsea have reportedly offered the player a wage similar to what the French side were prepared to pay, which was believed to be over £200,000 a week.

Kante has become a key figure in the Chelsea squad since his move from Leicester and the Frenchman has also been impressing in the World Cup this summer.

There had been suggestions that Chelsea could struggle to keep hold of the player after his performances in Russia, but that does not appear to be the case.

LAMPARD HOLDS TALKS OVER MOUNT DEAL

Frank Lampard wants to take Mason Mount to Derby County on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

John Percy of the Telegraph claims that Lampard has already held talks with his former side over a deal for the youngster.

Mount, one of the highest-rated young players at Chelsea, spent last season on loan at Vitesse where he impressed greatly.

He has since returned to the club and reported for pre-season training, along with the rest of the loan players.

A host of Chelsea’s younger players have been linked with a move to Derby following Lampard’s appointment there.

He and Jody Morris will know Mount well and will be fully aware of the potential that he possesses.

Chelsea will be keen to get Mount’s next move right to continue his development, as the player sets his sights on the first-team squad.

Given how highly he is thought of at Chelsea, loaning him to a former player and academy boss may be considered as a safe move.
