Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea FC v Huddersfield

Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge to keep their top-four hopes alive.

The Blues will host David Wagner’s side in their final home game of the 2017-18 season on Wednesday night as Chelsea FC look to finish in the Champions League qualification spots for the second successive campaign.

The west London outfit can move level on points with third-placed Liverpool FC with a win over Huddersfield but the Reds have a far superior goal difference.

Chelsea FC is two points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur after Spurs suffered a 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns last Saturday.

Antonio Conte’s seized their chance to reduce the deficit between themselves and their top-four rivals after Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge.

France international Olivier Giroud netted a first-half winner at Stamford Bridge to secure a vital three points against the Champions League finalists.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen believes Chelsea FC will ease to an important win against Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

“Good results for both sides on Sunday but both have plenty to play for at the Bridge with Huddersfield not yet guaranteed their Premier League status next term and Chelsea making an unlikely late charge for Champions League qualification,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Terriers started their season winning 3-0 at Palace – since then they have lost all seven games against sides from the capital by an aggregate scoreline of 22-2.

Their last game of the season is the visit of Arsenal to the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday!

“Huddersfield is likely to defend deep and in numbers, but it is Chelsea to keep the points at the Bridge.”

Chelsea FC has won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and Conte.

The Blues haven’t won the Champions League title since 2012.
