ALVARO MORATA has told Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio to accept an offer from Chelsea, it has been claimed.
According to Diario Gol, who are renowned for making outlandish transfer rumours, Real Madrid want to sign Eden Hazard so Chelsea have asked for the 22-year-old in part-exchange.
The Spanish publication claim Asensio is considering his future at the Bernabeu after failing to nail down a regular spot in Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI.
He is reportedly ready to listen to offers from interested clubs and has been hitting the phones in recent days to gear up a move.
Diario Gol say former Real Madrid striker Morata has been in touch with Asensio.
And, despite Chelsea failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League, he is reportedly yet to rule out switching to Stamford Bridge.
Asensio burst onto the scene last term and began the current campaign with a bang.
He scored four goals in the opening four games but has since found himself flitting between the starting XI and the bench.
According to Diario Gol, Asensio is aware that he would find his opportunities further squeezed if Hazard arrives.
The Belgium international’s future at Chelsea is under question after their fifth-place Premier League finish.
Before the FA Cup final, Hazard warned Chelsea bosses that he will look at their new signings before deciding whether to stay or go.
However, speaking after the 1-0 win against Manchester United, he hinted that he could stick around.
When asked if Chelsea have the squad to challenge Premier League champions Manchester City, he said: “Yes. We have a lot of top players, players who are used to winning trophies. We will be ready next season.
“I think all of the players and the club want one thing and that’s to win the title. Of course we will see if we can bring in some new players. But we will be focused on winning the title, that’s it.”
