‘Should be breaking the bank’ – Chelsea fans are eager to sign 27-goal striker this summer

Chelsea fans are eager to sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi after his latest goal in Serie A this weekend.

The Argentinian international was on the scoresheet against Juventus in a dramatic 3-2 defeat on Saturday, his 27th goal of the season for the Italian outfit.

With nine goals in his last eight matches, the striker is in lethal form and some feel he would be the perfect addition to Antonio Conte’s Chelsea squad this summer.

Alvaro Morata has had an up and down season at Stamford Bridge, scoring just 11 Premier League goals, and the Blues have had to rely on Olivier Giroud in recent weeks.

Would signing Icardi allow them to compete for the Premier League title next season or should they persist with the Morata project and hope he finds his scoring boots on a consistent basis?

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the subject in the wake of Icardi’s latest performance…

Chelsea prepare to launch a shock £45 million move for Tottenham star

It couldn’t happen, could it?

Much has been made of Toby Alderweireld’s situation at Spurs over the past few months.

Widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the league, if not Europe, Alderweireld has struggled for game time at Tottenham in the second half of the season.

Injured in the 3-1 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League at the beginning of November, the Belgian returned from that setback, only to find it difficult to get back into the side.

Contract negotiations at Spurs have stalled, with the Belgian reportedly holding out for more than the Tottenham hierarchy are willing to offer, and relations have been strained.

The defender has made just one Premier League appearance since that injury, against Brighton in the last game, making just two other starts in the FA Cup.

There has been much speculation surrounding where his future may lie and Premier League rivals Chelsea are the latest to show an interest.

Reports suggest that the Blues could offer £45 million to lure the Belgian to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Alderweireld’s contract runs out at the end of next season, but Spurs have the option to trigger a one-year extension. However, if they do that there is a release clause that means Spurs must accept a bid of £25 million.

Could Chelsea really be the destination of one of Tottenham’s top stars?
