Chelsea FC have opened talks with Nice over a deal to sign Jean Michael Seri, according to reports in France.
French newspaper L’Equipe, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Blues are keen to try and bring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.
The same report says that Seri is available for a transfer fee of just £35m due to a release clause in his contract with the French side.
It is also claimed that the 26-year-old has been attracting interest from a host of top European clubs recently, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City and FC Barcelona.
However, the story says that it is Chelsea FC who have made the first move to try and sign Seri ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report, though, also claims that the Blues are likely to face strong competition from their rivals for the signature of the central midfielder.
Seri has scored one goal and made four assists in 25 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
Chelsea FC are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the summer transfer window gives them the chance to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
The Blues are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table and looking as if they will miss out on a top-four finish in Antonio Conte’s second season in charge.
