Chelsea are due to play Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 second leg next Wednesday with the hope of making the quarter final, and Willian has given a hint of how his side will shape up for the mission impossible of beating the Spain giants.
The Blues failed to win the first leg at Stamford Bridge three weeks ago, after Lionel Messi scored his first goal against Chelsea to cancel out Willian opener.
Chelsea were on the verge of taking a commanding lead in the tie but a mistake by Andreas Christensen helped Barcelona to unlock the tight defense Conte had setup, to hand a pass to Messi, which he converted with a first time shot.
The combination of Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazard in attack gave Chelsea the surprise edge over Barcelona in the game as the Premier League champions hit their opponents on the counter mostly, and Willian says a similar style would be implemented on Wednesday.
“We come here to do exactly the same job that we did at Stamford Bridge. We know Barcelona always have more possession. They like to have the ball and they like to play. But, like I said, with the ball we have to be more clinical.
“Without the ball, we have to stay compact like we did at Stamford Bridge. We all have to do the same job. We know here the pitch is big, and we have to stay together to make sure we don’t concede goals, but to go for the counter-attacks as well.”
