David Luiz is planning to return for Chelsea’s key clash against Tottenham after the international break, according to reports.
The 30-year-old has been sidelined since February 5 due to a knee injury which was aggravated by a challenge from Sergio Aguero over 15 months ago.
Chelsea have even sought help from a knee specialist in Spain to help with Luiz’s recovery. But according to The Sun, Luiz is confident that he will be available for selection for Chelsea’s fixture against Tottenham on April 1.
Antonio Conte’s side are currently fifth in the Premier League and five points behind fourth-placed Spurs with eight games remaining.
Earlier this season, Luiz was dropped by Conte following a bust-up after Chelsea’s defeat to Roma in the Champions League.
Luiz reportedly questioned Conte’s tactics and was subsequently dropped for Chelsea’s next game against Manchester United.
The Brazilian has started only nine games in the Premier League this season, with Conte preferring Andreas Christensen at the heart of his three-man defence.
