It’s time for Conte to drop these 2 Chelsea stars vs Barcelona tonight – Agreed?

Our Chelsea fans here are looking forward to tonight’s match against European rivals Barcelona, in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Chelsea will be hoping to not bring their 2018 form into tonight’s fixture for fear of the tie being over before it’s properly started.

So far this season, Antonio Conte has not got the Blues firing like his touchline personality and has looked like a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Chelsea are clinging on to the top-four places at the moment, and a knockout in the last 16 round of the Champions League would surely help towards the Italian’s dismissal at the club.

If Conte wants to keep his job, then he may look to dropping a few players that aren’t performing at their best this season, which our fans think isn’t a tough call in some cases.

With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at which two should feel the wrath of Conte’s axe…

The English defender and club Captain is having probably one of his worst seasons so far the Blues. Chelsea are a better team without him in it and statistically pick up more points, suggesting Old Father Time is catching up with the England star.

Since he was sent off in the first game of the season, it’s kind of set the tone for the remainder of it for the former Bolton man.

Maybe the pressure of being the skipper is too much for him, or he may just be having a bad season but Conte cannot rely on him if he wants to get a result tonight.

The midfielder has played 33 times so far this season but Conte may opt to rest the Spanish winger against his former club, as he may look to play four across the midfield to fire-blanket Barcelona’s attack.

A little discipline in this first leg can set up the second, especially if they come away with something to defend at the Camp Nou. Pedro may come on later in the game to start with he will surely be sacrificed against his former side.
