REAL MADRID are not in a position to sell their star players and will not allow Marco Asensio to join Chelsea this summer.
That is the verdict of ESPN FC pundit and former Major League Soccer star Alejandro Moreno.
Chelsea are one of the clubs who have been linked with Spain playmaker Asensio.
The 22-year-old’s stock has risen ever since he burst onto the scene at Real Madrid last season.
He has been a regular under Zinedine Zidane this term, scoring 10 times in 36 appearances in all competitions.
Moreno reckons Real Madrid need to build their team around Asensio rather than letting him leave the club for the likes of Chelsea.
“I don’t think Real Madrid is in a position to allow a talent like Marco Asensio to go,” the Venezuelan said.
“I think he has been one of the players that has turned Real Madrid around over the last couple of weeks.
“It feels as though this is the sort of player that you can build around rather than just send them somewhere else.
“I think he stays at Real Madrid.”
Asensio has eight caps for Spain since making his international debut in 2016.
