STEVEN GERRARD has waxed lyrical about Chelsea star Cesar Azpilicueta, stating that he is a “manager’s dream”.
The Spanish defender has been used in a variety of positions during his time at Stamford Bridge.
His latest place in the team is in a defensive back-three on the right-hand side.
But he has played both full-back positions, including as a wing-back, in the past.
The former Marseille man joined the Blues for around £7m in 2012 and has been a regular since.
He has 20 caps for Spain and is in contention for this year’s World Cup squad.
And his latest performance against La Liga leader Barcelona has gained plaudits for his robust defending.
Former Liverpool ace Gerrard is a big fan of the 28-year-old.
“He’s a manager’s dream,” he said.
“He gets in 99 per cent of any team in the world because any manager would want him.
“He’s always available, he’s robust. It seems like he’s so professional as well. He’s a fantastic player.”
The Blues travel to Manchester United this weekend in a huge Premier League clash (Sunday, 2.05pm).
