Chelsea handed massive boost in the battle to stop Eden Hazard to Real Madrid transfer

Eden Hazard may potentially be remaining at Stamford Bridge come the summer despite talk of a big-money move to Real Madrid.

The Belgian ace has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for some time now and manager Zinedine Zidane is believed to be extremely keen on bringing him to the Spanish capital.

Hazard himself has previously stated that he would like to work under Zidane at some stage in his career, although the Frenchman may be out of a job come the end of the campaign given Real’s poor form.

The Champions League holders face a big summer at the club and a major clear out is expected to take place after a shocking campaign in La Liga.

Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Keylor Navas look likely to depart the club, while the summer could also signal the end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s time in Madrid.

Given the club’s all-time top goalscorer may be potentially moved on, Real will want to replace him with a top name.

According to the Independent, that man could well be Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar.

Despite only joining the French club in the summer, reports suggest that the Brazilian could be heading to the Bernabeu in a big-money deal.

In fact, the club’s hierarchy genuinely believe that Nemar is “definitely” moving to Real in the summer.

The sides meet in the Champions League tonight and a victory for Real tonight is so important if they want to convince the player to return to Spain.

If indeed Neymar does move to Real, it is highly unlikely that the club would move for Hazard as well, even though there are expected to be a number of incomings in Madrid.

Chelsea are keen to tie Hazard down to a new deal in west London and rumours of a move would stop for the time being if he put pen-to-paper.

Speaking to Spanish publication Marca last week, Hazard refused to rule out a future move to Real.

“In football, you never know. I am happy at Chelsea and fully focused with them.” said Hazard.

“I remember 10 years ago when [Zidane] spoke about me for the first time. It was incredible.

“He was my hero when I was a boy. I watched thousands of his videos and now he is the manager of one of the best clubs in the world, so yes, it is great.

“But I do not want to stop. I want to keep working, putting in the effort on the pitch, and then I am delighted when people like him talk about me.”
