Antonio Conte hailed the impact of Andreas Christensen at Chelsea this season, but insists the 21-year-old must still improve.
The Italian has thrown the 21-year-old into the mix this season at Stamford Bridge after a successful and lengthy loan spell with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, with Christensen keeping David Luiz out of the side.
The Dane has made 16 Premier League starts under Conte and is tipped to be a regular starter for the Blues for years to come.
While Conte is a huge fan of his and insists he ‘has a brilliant future’, the Italian wants to see improvement from the youngster when on the ball.
‘We are talking about a player who is only 21 years old,’ he said after Chelsea’s win over West Brom.
‘But he is showing great maturity, great calm, great personality. He has to continue in this way. He has performed very well since the start of the season.
Conte insists while he’s good defensively, the Dane needs to improve on the ball, also in the opposition boxes, if he ever wants to become as good as John Terry:
‘He needs to improve: Defensively he’s very well. He needs to improve with the ball, to find more the solutions with the ball. He has the right personality, the right potentiality to do this.
‘But we are talking about a player who is only 21 years old. For us, for me, he has a brilliant future.’
