Conte talks about Cahill injury, Luiz future, Hazard, Fabregas, Tiredness, Mourinho and more

Welcome and thank you for joining us today as we bring you live coverage from Antonio Conte’s post-match press conference following Chelsea’s 0-0 Premier League clash with Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

It was a difficult day at the office for the Blues as they were second best for much of today’s game. Conte’s men came into today’s game knowing that a win would see them leapfrog Manchester United into second place once more before the Red Devils play Stoke City on Monday night.

Eyebrows were raised immediately as both Andreas Christensen and David Luiz were left out of the starting XI in favour of a back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Gary Cahill.

But the Dane was soon brought on as Cahill limped off around the half hour mark as the Blues struggled for a foothold.

The second half saw more joy for the home side and they were handed a boost as Ben Chilwell was sent off after being shown two yellow cards in quick succession. But they could not break down the Foxes and were held to their third goalless draw in all competitions in a row.

Follow everything the Chelsea boss has to say below.

Alexis Sanchez
As you know very well this is a topic that I don’t want to deal with the press. I am the coach, trying to do the best with my players and work with them and give 110% . This is not my business

Gary Cahill

Cahill was a muscular problem, but not serious. That is good news. I don’t know the time he needs to recover. The doctor said this.

Jose Mourinho and contempt jib

I said I stop. It is the same for me, I don’t know if he said this for me. I am not worried, I sleep very well.

David Luiz on the bench

He has recovered from an injury. But the problem is not the defenders because every defender is playing very well, we are not conceding but we are not scoring.

3-5-2 or 3-4-3

I have to find the right balance. We played 3-4-3 against Norwich and didn’t score. This is not a problem for the system. In both system we have conceded less than last season. We have to improve if we want to score and win.

I think the problem is the team, not only Morata. We are conceding less but not great quality in our finishing. But not only Morata, from corners defenders have the chance to score but not take. We have to improve this aspect.

Cesc and Hazard

I saw them very tired.

Should there be more rotation?

I think I am doing rotation. Against Norwich I made nine changes, Arsenal ten and I thought the same players would be okay to recover. This period, to face all competition is not simple otherwise you have to take the risk.

I think that honestly that to find an excuse or alibi we paid a lot for the Arsenal game. To play Wednesday night and then against a really good team after only two days and a half. It was almost the same team against Arsenal. That was my plan. I saw a lot of players very tired. We suffered a lot in the first half in the start of the second half. The fresh energy changed the game and we created chances to score. We tried to win the game. At the end the result was fair.
